Suzzanna Cousin, Abstract Impressionist

Suzzanna remembers that as a toddler, when sitting and crawling on a Persian rug, how she was amused for hours and how she would react to color and design...Her eyes tracing the geometric and floral patterns of the rugs.

Having been raised in a multi-cultural and international environment in the Art Decor period, surrounded by stimulating, inspiring and thought provoking era, when women, especially the idle rich, would pass time being creative with needles and thread, designing original, spectacular house-hold pieces and utilitarian crafts, Suzzanna, impatient by nature, wanted to create similar pieces but a lot faster using pencils, paints and brushes on fabrics, wood, paper, terra cotta and glass.

In her early pre-teen years in India during the Raj, her next door neighbor Professor Askari, a master of Moghlai and Persian miniature paintings was inspirational and helpful in imparting his expertise to his young neighbor who he thought was so full of passion for fine art.

In her later years, her travels to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, America and Latin America, their rich and diverse art and culture, all had a tremendous effect on her creativities.

Suzzanna's love for horses began very early in life. All aristocratic households had a Victoria, a horse drawn coach, a horse and buggy named after the then Empress of India Queen Victoria, as the mode of transportation. Polo and horse racing were household names and leisure activities.

One of her cousins being a professional jockey further instilled the interest of horses in Suzzanna and the household. Years later her stay in deserts of Arabia, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico heightened her love and interest in all things horses.

She once said "you should always paint what you love" and so her collection of art clearly reflects this.
